Our friends at Ford Forums have an annual toy run for the Salvation Army which is a very worthy cause, bringing a little Christmas joy to disadvantaged children. The Ford Coupe Club participated by joining the toy run and making a club donation of $200 worth of toys.
It was under threatening skies we gathered at the Notting Hill Hotel car park to head off and meet the rest of the cruise at the BP service station at Calder. The line up was Jack & Colleen, Dave S & Family, Alan, Lesley & Daron, Tas & Family, Lindsay, Moya and I. It was also great to see new member Dave E come along for his first run with the club. Tas brought along his beautiful XW Wagon, just the thing for a family picnic and Lindsay was in his "civilian" transport, an EF XR8.

We got through the city with no dramas and arrived
at the BP in plenty of time. There were cruises meeting
there from the Ford Factory in the North and from
Cranbourne in the South East. Before too long we had
a very large group old and young (cars and people)
ready to head off to Bendigo.
It was an uneventful drive although we did cop a
bit of weather. Along the way we picked up Chris G
& Rod in the Superbird and the group was complete.

We made it to Lake Weroona without any hassles, or at least mostly.
Hard luck for Jack & Colleen whos coupe developed a craving for
water. A blown head gasket was seemingly the culprit.
We were waved into the carpark and we had some car parks
put aside especially for us. It was great seeing the coupes lined
up among the mostly newer cars.
There was a huge variety of cars to check out and lots
of folks with whom to talk cars with.

All participants were asked to bring a toy per car and for a
gold coin donation we were able to enter a show n shine.
Well done to everyone who attended. A lot of people gave additional donations. Families and friends of participants also dug deep and donated lots of toys. Thank you everyone. Thanks to Colleen for running the colouring competition for the kids and to Sophi for bringing along a huge amount of food to share.

Particular thanks to the Ford Forums folks for organizing this run and for welcoming us along, In particular Mark (Spoolman) for pulling all this together.
The show n shine and raffles raised $480 for the Salvation Army. I was informed on the day that the Salvation Army in Bendigo has around 500 disadvantaged children on their books and that between us all we've donated enough toys for them all.
Happy Cruising, Craig.
