The Kiwanis All Ford Day down at Deacon University in Geelong is a great event for blue oval lovers. You can see all sorts of Henry’s from across the globe in the one spot. It’s one of my personal favorites for that reason.
This year did not disappoint. The weather was perfect, blue sky and not to hot. The bypass was working for an easy run in. The dust was the only problem as always. Why they don’t water it leading up to the event I’ll never know. One for the suggestion box for next year.
The Coupe Club had a huge turnout with some invited guests . 3 x rows of coupes totaling approximately 25 cars. The Cobra Club didn’t fair so well with 3 cars plus a Dwaynes freshly painted XC GXL 4 door & a blow in John Goss coupe.
There was lots to see. Jim Richards had his Falcon sprint, there was a tough yellow Biante series XY,
Mustangs galore, a replica Moffat XY to complement Stu’s City Ford, the list goes on. I volunteered for the judging which is fun & extremely difficult if you get the modern Falcons
Luckily I had Colleen & Jack to help and it needed the 3 of us. We had 26 cars to judge all looking like they left the showroom. Stu & Dave S got the Fairlanes & Galaxies. I wish! Still it’s a lot of fun. Then it was back to the Marquee and more chat.
All to soon it was all over for another year. A big thanks to Craig B for organising the spots and Kiwanis for a great event. The new bypass certainly makes the trip home smooth sailing. Especially if your pride and joy has temperature problems in traffic. See you there next year! Written: Tom |
