EASTER EGG RUN TO FLOWERDALE

Our friends on Australian Ford Forums organized an Easter egg run to Flowerdale to spread some Easter cheer to those who were unfortunately affected by the recent Bushfires in Victoria. 

We decided to participate as a club and donate $200 worth of Easter eggs for this very worthy cause. In addition to this there were also various personal donations. 

It was a perfect day for cruising with bright sunshine and a light breeze. We assembled at Ferntree Gully Auto wreckers and along with all the other folks were raring to go. We had a great turnout including Geoff & Jeanette and Lesley & Daron on their first run with the club. The usual suspects were also there; Jack, Colleen & Jake, Joe, Yvanne & Family, Mark & Tracey, Dave S & Jan, Phil, Yvette & Sophie, Moya and I. Dave M was meeting us at Kinglake West as he was with the other cruise and Rob was heading direct to Flowerdale and meeting us there. 

We headed off towards Lilydale for the first stop to pick up some more participants then onward to Yarra Glen, Kinglake and Kinglake West. It was there we met the other group and we all proceeded together to the Flowerdale Pub. 

It was a very sobering experience driving through the blackened hills, especially seeing piles of debris, some of which looked untouched since that terrible day. It was amazing just how many more houses could have been lost when you see the fire burned completely around some. It was also amazing to see new life thriving in those areas, Mother Nature at work. 

We got to the pub, parked the cars for an impromptu show n’ shine and took in the Easter eggs thankful they hadn’t melted in the car. There was a huge pile of Easter goodies donated from everyone, a great effort. We all sat down and had lunch, the pub doing very well to feed us all in good time. After lunch it was trophy time. Joe cleaned up with Best “X” series and Publicans Choice with his XB Coupe. Rob picked up the trophy for Promoters Choice with his XA GT Sedan. Congratulations to you both.    

Before too much longer it was time to head back. It was a fantastic day out and huge thanks go out to the organizers at Ford Forums (user name in brackets):
