All Ford Day  17th February 2008

I guess there was a sense of dejvu for quite a few of us assembling at the Shell Westgate to head off to Geelong. Again we were travelling with the Falcon Cobra Club so had a huge convoy of roughly 25 coupes which looked fantastic!!

The cruise down was uneventful and we copped the inevitable long queue to get in. The queue was always moving and it wasn't as bad as it looked. Still, there were a few anxious sets of eyes trained on temperature gauges.

We arrived at our display area which was right next to the Falcon Cobra Club display. Do you think we could get everyone in?? We had to encroach on some of the Cobra Clubs space. We were a bit short of elbow room which made placing the pergolas and seating a bit awkward.

The show itself was fantastic. There were just so many cars there of such a high standard. This really is Mecca for Ford lovers and is the premium show for the year. A highlight was the XC Sundowner Van that Tas brought along. What a great example, that thing was absolutely superb. When was the last time anyone saw one of those?? Another highlight was finally seeing the Brut 33 XB in the flesh presented by Bruce.

It was great to see Ray Ikin up and about, firing on all eight!! Thanks for bringing the Carter XA and Richards XB cars, they really got everyone's attention.

A big "well done"  to Dave Mitchell winning the runner up prize for best coupe. It's no mean feat especially being judged against XM and XP coupes as well.

Despite the heat everyone had a great day and was well worth the two year wait from last time. Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day with shade pergolas and chairs. Thanks also to everyone who promoted the club and dealt with enquiries. Lastly big thanks to the Falcon Cobra Club for letting us use some of their real estate!!

This was my last club run as President. I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the friendships formed over the time.

See ya on the road, Stu.
