Picnic at Hanging Rock 10th February 2008 I arrived at Shell Westgate ridiculously early and waited with eager anticipation for the others to arrive. This was the first run for the year and I was rarin' to go!! Being a combined run with the Falcon Cobra Club meant that before too long a decent number of coupes were lined up ready to go. We left the servo and headed off for the cruise to Hanging Rock with me taking the lead. Being mindful of keeping the convoy moving I decided not to muck around. After a little while I checked my mirrors and nobody. Just glimpses of Jack and Colleen way back!! I had to ease off and got everyone bunched up again just before the Woodend turnoff. We rolled through Woodend where Nathan and Ashley joined the convoy and we continued to the showgrounds. We were waved through to an access road to the top entrance. We then did some decent cross country driving when we were waved into a great little corner with plenty of trees and flat ground. The perfect place to chill out for the day. Once there we parked up, out came the deck chairs, up went the pergolas and we were set. It was a terrific day and a great show. So much variety on offer there was something for everyone. A few of the young uns took on the rock with some of the parents dragged along!! Dave and I went looking for stray coupes and found a few. I reckon we must have looked like a pair of Mormons walking around with our club newsletters etc. Jack and Colleen did a great job at the pergola spruiking for members. Overall it was a very successful day for the club. Well done to the Macedon Ranges Motor Club for conducting this event, it is extremely well organised and run. Happy Cruising, Craig. |
