HANGING ROCK FEBRUARY 2007

With the cancellation of the All Ford Day we decided to make this our club run for this month. Wed heard all about the Picnic at Hanging Rock car run and decided it was time to check it out for ourselves.

We assembled at Shell Westgate in showery conditions, hoping for an improvement in the weather. We headed off but unfortunately half way there Bruce encountered fuel surge problems with his Cobra and had to turn back. The sun came out just as we rolled through Woodend and picked up the Maryborough contingent.

We went on through to the Hanging Rock reserve and were amazed how quickly we got in. Once parked in position the pergolas went up, deckchairs out, food unpacked, club banner up and we were set!! What a turnout!! Great to see new members Guy and Tas along as well as the regulars.

The weather was interesting. Just after lunch a black cloud parked itself over the reserve and served up a huge clap of thunder and lightning just as a plane flew by. We thought we were going to witness a scene from Lost. A shower swept through later which made a mess of the cars.

This was a fantastic event with a huge variety of cars of various genre about the place. There were even old trucks and stationary engines. There was something for everyone. The reserve is a terrific venue and the event organization was excellent

A big well done to the Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club for organizing this event. We had a great time and would love to come back again.

See ya on the road, Stu.
