What a great event!! We hadn't been drag racing for so long as a club so this was way overdue. We were well represented with Jack, Colleen and Dave M making the trek on Friday. On Saturday Bruce and Howard trailered up Howie's beast meanwhile Dave R, Scott, Lindsay, Murray and myself met at the Burvale and cruised up together. Nathan later met us at the track.
We had five coupes running in the Saturday morning test and tune phase. We finally saw the much anticipated battle between Dave M and Howie and what a treat, there was stuff all between them. The best times I noted in this phase were:
Howard: 12.66 @ 113.00
Dave M: 12.33 @ 115.27
Colleen: 16.45 @ 84.10
Dave R: 16.91 @ 87.33
Murray: 13.86, unfortunately I didn't get the terminal speed.
Great effort, and
Murray discovered how much air pressures in the rear tyres can affect your times. He improved dramatically after letting out some air.
Unfortunately Howard lost the clutch and was forced to put eXBee away for the day.
In the bracket racing phase we were all knocked out in the first round.
Dave M got a 12.41 @ 112.56 but was beaten by a bumper width.
Murray got a 14.09 @ 106.99 but was beaten
Dave R got a 16.86 @ 86.34 but jumped the lights
Colleen got a 16.48 @ 78.92 but was beaten.
Great to see other coupes there as well namely two very fast units from SA. Montyv8 that thing of yours is a weapon!! Congratulations. The Black one was no slouch either!! It was a fantastic event and very well organized by Australian Ford Forums. Thanks guys!! |
