It was our soon to be annual Heathcote test and tune day, all meeting at Lindsay's place in
It was a fine day, which was getting hot by the afternoon, typical Heathcote. We got down to business and had several runs each. Lindsay was proving to be a crowd pleaser with his big smoky burnouts. My damn Hoosiers just wouldn't produce any smoke!! Ripped off!! Much to my surprise they were gripping up well as the afternoon progressed. We all dropped our tyre pressures to around 15 to 18psi, which really helped our hook-ups. Some of our times were affected by the good old toploader
There were no blowups or major mechanical problems but I copped a fuel starvation problem late in the day. I will fix this even if it takes me all the family savings!!! (Not for Karen's eyes). Dave established that he needs a bigger carby but was happy overall with his car. The horsepower chase is on (you can never have enough). We all pulled pretty good times and were happy with our cars especially considering none of them are set up for drag racing.
Dave started with 15.8s and achieved a best time of 14.5s. He was in the low 15s all day so was rapt to break well into the 14s.
Lindsay was consistently in the 15s to begin with and worked his way down to a best of 14.5s.
I began with high 14s and low 15s but was rapt to pull a best time of 13.9s, I knew the car had it in it.
We look forward to next time at Heathcote in September and hope to see more members there. It's a good way to get rid of all that stress. Even if you don't want to take your car down the quarter it's still a great day out to cruise and spectate.
See ya on the road, Stu.
