It was a fairly enthusiastic bunch that met at Bunnings on Dandenong Rd to head into Sandown. There  was a good turnout, with approx 10 road cars, 2 race replicas & 1 Group C. While the road warriors set up overlooking Dandy Rd corner the race cars headed across to the Grand Stand where they where put on display with a LOT of  Holdens. The weather was forecast to be hot and it didnt disappoint. It was also the debut of the clubs new marquee.

This nearly ended in tears when on unpacking it there were no pegs.   Luckily the banner was available and  its pegs were quickly put into service.  The new marquee is BIG!   It's a minimum 2 man operation to get it happening.    After some light hearted banter it was up & tied to the fence.    Because of its size the decision was made to take it to the bottom of the hill.  We didn't want it turning into a large kite if the wind picked up.   Time to settle in and watch the action.

Spectacular Group C Crash at Dandy Rd Corner.

Thankfully  the driver was OK.

The racecars on the grandstand causeway got plenty of admiring looks.  There was a constant stream of fans between the pits and the grandstand so the display position is perfect.    It was a bit different for the guys at Dandenong Rd.

Being the end of the display line furthest from the grandstand they only had the odd photographer come their way.The heat didn't help things.Never the less it was a great spot for watching the racing. Historics are a good event as you can get a lot closer to the action.  You don't need a separate pit pass & not being so crowded, good photo opportunities. Despite the heat a good day was had by all.    I would like to thank Bruce S for organising the day and Sandown Racecourse for the invite.
