Morwell Hill Climb -
We made the annual trek to Gippsland Park Hill Climb at the invitation of the Falcon Fairlane Club. Meeting time was
We had a good drive down to Morwell and after unloading all the contents got the cars scrutineered, had the drivers briefing and started to do some practice laps from around
David and myself got in plenty of practice laps in the morning, Dave looked like he was having a ball in the Mustang with the little 289 getting plenty of smoke off the line, this was the first time Dave had driven at Morwell. It was also the first outing for my XD after retiring my XB Coupe from active track duty; the XB is now having some long needed panel beater attention.
After lunch we continued, this time the runs were timed. Best times from our club were:
David Schache: 66 Mustang 289 43.23 seconds
David Ramsay: 79 XD
I did not get all the other times but quickest on the day was both
Overall it was a fantastic day and a good shake down for the XD for Winton track day coming up, I certainly have a long list of things to do on the XD before then. Only drama for the day was when we all packed up and ready to go home the fuel pump in the XD gave up. Big thanks to Joe and Dave for hanging around, Ray Ikin for sourcing a fuel pump at
I would thoroughly recommend the Morwell Hillclimb for those who have not yet had a go at any motorsport events.
A big thank you to the Falcon Fairlane Club for organizing the event and inviting our club.
David Ramsay.
