Around five or six years ago I answered an ad in the Trading Post for a coupe. It read "XB 2 door, still registered, V8".
I decided to have a look. It was parked in the open, a tarp placed over and blackberries had grown over the lot. Upon inspection the tarp had baked onto the roof, there was rust around the back window and damage to both rear quarters.
The coupe was all white but I could make out the outline of the 302 transfers under the paint. Everything else appeared to be OK. I did the deal and got myself a project.

I didn't realise it was a Gossy until I pulled up the carpets and found the green paint on the floor. You beauty!!
I started work on it, taking the slow and steady approach. The paint and panels needed plenty of work, the interior has been completely re-done and the original engine has been rebuilt with quite a few goodies added on.
I took it slowly in the late stages. I didn't want to rush to finish it and not do it right.

Probably the biggest single frustration I encountered through the project was reproduction parts that didn't fit properly or just weren't up to the quality of originals.
I finally got it on the road and had its first outing to the Shannons Classic Australian Car Show in July 2007. It felt great getting it out on the road and have it parked next to a Blue and White Gossy which had also just been completed!!

It is registered with its original rego number. In the course of enquiries with VicRoads about being able to do this I discovered the original owner lives one street away from me. Small world or what!! I'm the third owner and I'll be treating it a bit better than the second owner did.

At the Hardtop Anniversary at Echuca in 2007 this coupe won the trophy for best John Goss Special. I am very happy to have won this award. It is a tribute to everyone who helped out with this project.
This coupe makes me smile every time I fire it up!!
