SUNDAY 14th FEBRUARY 2010

Words: John H. Photos:  John H, Stan D & Bruce C

Hanging Rock is one of those Car Shows you need to see to believe! So even with a few spots of rain on the windscreen as I drove out of the drive at 6.30am, I knew it would still be a great day. Joined Scott and the Yellow Landau on the Eastern Freeway and was stunned to see the huge turn-out at the Calder Park BP. It was a challenge to gather all our members together amongst the gleaming throng, but having done so, we set off at “coupe speed” for Woodend.

Lindsay took the lead, with Dave S in the Yellow Fairmont and Alan P in the black XB in hot pursuit.

Jamie B and partner, Lindsay, only just had time to fill the tank on the Red XA GT and joined at the tail of the field. The sight of a dozen coupes emerging from the fog in Woodend’s main street startled the Locals and we made our usual “inconspicuous’ entrance into Hanging Rock.
We raised the Club banner on the best bit of real estate in the park, under some shade next to the creek in the geographic centre of the show! We’ll done Lindsay!

As always, it’s great to see some of the newer members and their cars. Craig and his 2 daughters cruised up in his sinister Black XB coupe, Stan in a Red XC, Dave E brought his Blue XC & Bruce C in his fist run in the red XB GS.

The weather started to clear, just as the first coffee was poured and we decided to have a look at some cars before the heat of the day.  This show takes at least 4 hours to walk around. There are cars of every make, model and colour. Truly something for everyone.  A mix of restored, unrestored, fast and slow. If you haven’t been before, make sure you do!

Another great day out for the Coupe Club and a good excuse to show off our much admired machinery.
