SHANNON'S CLASSIC AUSTRALIAN

CAR SHOW JULY 2007

A car show in July?? You would think the weather would be a bit dicey this time of year but for the third year running we were blessed with a sunny day. Just goes to show, Mother Nature is a petrol head too!! This event had outgrown the original venue at Sandown Raceway and had moved to the nursery car park at Flemington Racecourse.

We all gathered at Shell Westgate and what a turnout. We were also joined by the Falcon Cobra Club which meant a big collection of Coupes were parked up waiting to travel in convoy to Flemington. We went via Williamstown Road and back along Ballarat Road to pick up a few others. We rolled into Flemington and arranged ourselves in two rows of Coupes back to back, which looked great.

There was a huge variety of classic cars there of all types which is what really makes this show. There were original classics, low riders, highly modified cars, hot rods you name it, something for everyone. The venue was absolutely fantastic which ensured the success of the event.

The highlight for us was the debut of Bruce and Murrays John Goss Specials. One Blue/White and one Green/White. These are excellent restorations with top class workmanship and are a credit to Bruce and Murray. They looked fantastic parked side by side. There were a few other Coupes out there as well, ones we have never seen before. We picked up a few new members on the day as did the Cobra Club so it was a success all round.

Thanks to everyone for an excellent turnout. Special thanks to Moya for the loan of the pergola, table and chairs. Special thanks also to Marita who, along with Moya, worked hard answering enquiries and promoting the club. Thanks also to Tiny for organizing this run for us.

See ya on the road, Stu.
