After a long and tiring search (plus just missing out on a full restored XAGT Coupe for 10K). I purchased my trusty XBGT in November 1988 for $7000.00.
It had been in Street Machine in 1981, which I was given a copy of from the previous owner but it was starting to show signs of a hard life from the last 2 owners.

The original owner from 1975 decided to give it the full street machine look in 1979/80 and spent a bomb, with a full ground up rebuild, plus the metal flake blue paint job (with spider webs on the mirrors) that is previously well known for. ( Howard's car was in the same group of Coupe's back in the early 80's)

So 2 months after owning my pride and joy driving down Burwood highway one night. I lost oil pressure and that was that for about 12 frustrating months.

I rebuilt the drive line with a 450HP 4V with the view of doing some drag racing at Calder Park, which I did and had a ball (Running a 13.0 sec quarter in full street trim) After being pulled up by the boys in blue every 2nd day got the better of me I decided to put it back to Factory and add the only thing that it didn't have from new ( A Factory Windback Sunroof ) |

So after a 4 year bare metal ground up rebuild from 1992 to 1996 and I don't want to add up how much money.
The Coupe as you see it today is the outcome.
