The annual fang around Winton was on again as a group of us headed up on Saturday to get settled in, fed and rested for a big day on Sunday.

Lindsay & Tracey, Craig & Moya and Murray arrived in the afternoon but Dave & Marita, Dave S and I were severely delayed by a last minute mechanical hitch with the XD that Dave S and I were sharing.

We eventually made it to the Royal where the others had dinner organized for us. Rob and John joined us later as we settled in for the evening.

Sunday dawned and we arrived at the track. We got ourselves set up, the cars scrutineered and we were ready to go.

It was great to see new member Nathan giving it a go in his beautiful Cosmic Blue XA Coupe.

Rob turned up in an old XB Sedan he found somewhere in his shed, complete with Bridgestone sponsorship. Between him and the XD Dave S and I were sharing we had a battle of the bench seats!!

John was taking his XR6 Turbo for a run, Lindsay and Murray were raring to go with their Coupes and Dave R had his Red XD ready to go.

The on track action was fantastic with a big variety of cars on the track from old bombs to some pretty serious machinery.

It was stinking hot which made the track slower after lunch. Amazingly the cars seemed to hold up pretty well, better than some of us anyway!!

The only casualty among us was Dave R having to retire his XD with low oil pressure.

Dave S had a near miss at the esses by getting too much kerb and getting some serious two wheel action going with me in the passengers seat holding on for dear life. From all accounts we nearly tipped over. It was a wild ride in any case.

It was a great day but by the end we were all hot and tired with a drive back to Melbourne in front of most of us. Thanks to the ladies for tolerating the heat and watching us indulge in our toys.
